I can't believe I haven't posted in almost a month. I have tons of great pictures and ideas to share - and I will as soon as school is finished. May is busy for nearly all kindergarten teachers - add to that the IEPs and meetings for special education and sleep is a luxury. I started an end of year program a few years ago and it gets better and better each year - but not really less work. The class this year looks and sounds great. We are even going to sing for the school board. One song is Shari Sloan's
School is Cool. I modified the words slightly to fit the end of the year. I also wrote new lyrics for
My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music. I slowed the tempo a little so the words are clear when the kids sing. The FDKers never fail to impress. I also have 4 "plays" so all the kids get parts. We recreate
Are You My Mother,
The Grouchy Ladybug,
Chicken Big and
The Fourth Little Pig. It is fun to see which children are "performers." It is not always the obvious students. ALWAYS some surprises. Aaah, kindergarteners. Look for lots of art and learning project ideas soon.
