Penguins Keep on Marching
This week we will be using penguins to fulfill the Common Core Standard for Shared Research and Writing. I can't wait to see their writings! I made some practice sentences for them that I'll add to my penguin unit. I also made a Penguin Short Vowel Sound Bingo game for the substitute to use this week (I have a hard time relaying to substitute teachers my usual lessons so I plan special things for the subs to do). I'll add that to my unit too.

Fingers crossed for more snow!

New Penguin Book I Really Like
I love Fluff and Billy! Two big reasons. 1. It has a simple easy to read story. Read it to kindergarteners once and then they can read it to themselves. 2. The plot offers lots of conversation starters for higher level behavior (perfect for level D if you use DWS). Some little reasons: the kids love it, the simple penguin pictures, the possible connections for big and little siblings, the penguins!
Check it out, you might love it too.

Penguin Unit Begins!
Lots of enthusiasm, lots of learning! Great to have the kids back and fully engaged.
Penguin Unit Theme The Perky Penguin is a free download at TPT too.

100th Day of School, 100s Day, 100 MUSEUM
I have my whole month of January planned. I love penguins and my class is reading and writing so let the research and learning begin!
I was so happy that all my penguin stuff was in a nice packet (thanks to putting it together for TPT) that I thought I'd do the same for my 100 museum. Yikes! It was way more work than I thought it would be. One hundred and five pages later my packet it done. It's a good thing I have the penguins first because my brain is now obsessing on my 100 Museum.
Another blogger has a collection of 100s Day posts to check out: 100th Day Linky Party
Looking forward to seeing my FDKers on Monday!

Not really a dog-themed 100 packet, but I always like to include a cute pup. 100 Museum TPT |
